When Chlorine gas is dissolved in Water, it reacts with the water to form Hypochlorous acid and Hydrochloric acid: 

Cl2 + H2O = HOCl + HCl

So the Oxyacid formed in the reaction is HOCl ( Hypochlorous Acid )

HOCl is very weak acid.

HOCL is a very important Sanitizing Agent and a quite powerful oxidizer.
