An -particle and a proton are released from the centre of the cyclotron and made to accelerate.
(i) Can both be accelerated at the same cyclotron frequency? Give reason to justify your answer.
(ii) When they are accelerated in turn, which of the two will have higher velocity at the exit slit of the dees?

mass of proton = m
charge = q
for alpha particles; mass = 4, charge = 2q
cyclotron frequency = V = Bq/ 2λm
or V is directly proportional q/m
the frequency of proton = Vp α q/m
alpha particle frequency = Va α q/ 2m
so the particle will not accelerate with same frequency
Vp = 2Va

the boat can be accelerated and the same frequency on the reason to justify that there are an accelerated intern and the two will have higher velocity at the exit silt of the dees...
