At first find the area of one such triangle with side lengths 17cm, 17 cm and 16 cm, using heron's formula. The area will be 120 cm^2 .

Then multiply the area of one triangle with 8.

120 cm^2 * 8 = 960cm^2 (Ans.)

perieter of triangle=Sum of all sides

=17+17+16

=50cm.

To make one umbrella=8pieces

8pieces=50×8

=400cm.

Therefore,400cm. of cloth is required.
