Anaerobic respiration in animals and humans

Animals and humans undergo aerobic respiration to carry on the  cycles for producing energy in the body, unlike the plants which don't require oxygen to produce energy. It is sometimes seen that animals and humans also undergo anaerobic respiration but this happens for a very short duration of time.

Anaerobic respiration occurs in human beings when they are doing some work and the body needs to produce more energy. For example if a person is running then the act of running requires more energy to keep the body going on. This energy is produced by the reactions that take place within the cells using the oxygen in them.

While running although a person takes in more oxygen but for this oxygen to reach the cells to produce energy it needs time so the cells start producing energy without the oxygen and this is the type of anaerobic respiration taking place within the body. but to continue with this kind of respiration is not possible because of the byproducts that are produced with the energy.

Lactic acid is produced in this method which causes or inflicts extreme pain in the muscles thereby  stopping our body to go on with this process.
