where oxygen is not required

parashara: It is a type of respiration in which oxygen supply is not needed .In this type of respiration 6 atom carbon atom of glucose is broken down into 2 pyruvate (pyruvic acid) of 3 atom molecule + 2 ATP energy is released. It is further broken down into ethanol + carbon dioxide and 2 ATP in yeast cell and in muscles there is production of lactic acid and 2ATP energy.
