1) The type of reproduction is called 'Vegetative Propagation'

2)The advantages of vegetative propagation are:

i. Plants like rose and Hibiscus in which the seed formation is difficult or does not take place can easily be multiplied by using vegetative propagation.

ii. It is an inexpensive, easy and fast method of reproduction. It is inexpensive because not many complex techniques are involved. It is easy because not much expertise is required. It is fast because the natural sexual means of reproduction last for a longer duration.

iii. Several seedless varieties of fruits like grapes, papaya, banana, pineapples etc. which are of high commercial value are produced with this method of reproduction and also for such non-seed bearing plants, vegetative propagation is the only method of reproduction.

iv. All the plants that are grown, from a single parent, by this method of reproduction, are genetically identical to their parent plants. They can be called ‘clones’.

Answer:

Explanation:

One plant is the stock, of which we take the root system and the other is the Scion, of which we use the shoot system. In this method of artificial vegetative propagation, we attach the scion to the stock of the second plant. In general, we use grafting for a variety of plants such as roses, apples, avocado etc
