A new visual culture was about to take place by the end of 19th century which had a set up of many printing presses and visual images could easily be copied. Many cheap prints were available in the markets and many calendars as well which could be bought by poor people also.

Then many innovations were being performed to color print in print technology and then different cartoons etc were also published in newspapers.

The new visual culture which emerged in India acquired a distinctively Indian form and style. Hindu epics were depicted by artists like Raja Ravi Verma.

Mass production of visual images lowered the cost of production. So even the lower income groups could decorate the walls of their homes with the cheap prints and calendars available in the market. Wood engravers who made woodblocks worked in the print shops. Painters like Raja Ravi Verma produced images for mass circulation.

The Printing Press also had an impact on the visual images. Multiple copies of the visual images could be produced easily. As a result of innovations in printing technology colour prints were introduced. This made printing material more beautiful.

Caricatures and cartoons were published in newspapers and journals. Some of them made fun of the fascination of the educated Indian's to copy Western tastes and clothes. Some of them openly criticized the imperial rule.
