1. Excessive deforestation reduces the amount of water that can be associated by adhesive and cohesive interactions between water molecules and root hairs. This decreases the level of water in the underground water table.
2. The dumping of wastes into the river and ocean waters makes them inappropriate for consumption. This also increases the nutrient concentration in the water that caused increase in BOD (Biochemical Oxygen Demand) and promotes Algal blooming or Eutrophication.
3. Many stagnant water resources  like ponds are deposited with mud and clay, for constructing building upon them, thereby completely depleting the source of fresh water.
