Public Distribution systems

Explanation:

Public distribution systems(pds) are essential for the development of an economy. Due to growth of capitalism the growth of society is unequal. It has led to poor being very poor and richer being very rich and this gap has widened over the period of time.

  • This brings the government into picture which with the use of public distribution system provides the essential goods and services to the lower strata of society via providing subsidies and public distribution centres.

  • It has proved to be very effective for example in India. In India, it has emerged as major tool for achieving food security.

  • It also has problems of corruption at the public distribution centres, duplicate ration cards etc. Which drags its effectiveness down.

With the help of digital infrastructure into place government is providing new life to it.
