The Cordillera, Mindoro, Palawan and Visayas are the regions in Philippines. The music of these regions are mainly used in ceremonies and functions and they use instruments which are made by them

The music of Cordillera

  • It consists of two sounds with materials of any kind.
  • The first instrument will be made of bamboo such as flute, or any striking instrument.
  • And the second instrument will be made of metal such as a gong. It is a traditional music system.
  • The music includes the owiwi which is considered to be a lullaby of Kalinga, that relates to a child’s life.
  • The other one is the dagdagay which is considered as the song of Kalinga that relates to the future of a child. And the Oppiya which is sung while cradling love

The music of Mindoro

  • The traditional music of Mindoro is the Ambahan which is considered to be a lyrical composition of Mangyans.
  • The music is composed by using seven syllables in one line.
  • In the music of Mindoro, they never use a specific instrument or style of tone

The music of Palawan

  • The music of Palawan is made of xylophone made of bamboo which is known as gabbang.
  • It is made up of a box that shapes like a trapezoid with bamboos of greater length.
  • It includes the Ulit,  tultul, and the Batac which is a collection of vocal music.
  • They believe that there is a relationship between nature and human beings. So consider these vocal music are connected to nature even though it is unseen

  • The musical form of Visayas includes a song with a dance that is considered to be a debate between a man and a woman named Balitaw.
  • They use vocal music and also instrumental music which is known as Rondalla
