analysis the influence Tamil saint had on chola ruler

Answer:
The premise that Tamilians have no religion is wrong.
Every King was Patron of some religious sect either Shaivaism, or Vaisnavism. When Tamil Kings were Patron of one sect but they weren't bent on destroying others.
That's why most Kings were never embroiled in religious affairs, though locally these sects vigorously were in altercations. Tamil Kings were secular in that aspect. They would hardly destroy Major temples of other kingdoms. Fact that Many Temples in Tamil Nadu easily are centuries and some even 1000+ years old, is proof. And Most ritual traditions of Various Hindu sect have lasted without major changes due to same reason.
Cholas and Pandyas weren't Patron of Islam and Christianity is the simple reason why they dint build mosques or churches.
Another Prime reason would be, these kings dint become patron of a sect just like that. Those days kings used to conduct debates and discussion on religious and philosophical materials. So it's obvious whichever was most appealing to them, they would eventually go on to patronize.
Hence Hinduism's various educational centres have been spread throughout Tamil kingdoms' capital areas. And surrounding areas were strongly influenced by sects. Kanchipuram, Madurai, Srirangam, Thanjavur, Kudandhai are some examples. That is why, Tamil Nadu is deeply rooted in Hinduism.
Coming to religious and philosophical debates, Christianity or Islam would have hardly given tough time to Hindu philosophers, with their centuries of thought processes. That's why these two religion have their indian base, owing to conversion and conquest.
Christianity and Islam never had impact until recent Tamil History.
