Guilford had proposed a 3D cubical model in order to explain the theory of the structure of intellect, according to which the performance of an individual in an intelligence test is dependent on the intelligence factors which are the person’s mental abilities.

These factors were divided into three dimensions by Guilford –

1. Operation Dimension – includes general intellectual processes like cognition, memory, evaluation, convergent and divergent production.

2. Content Dimension – includes the areas of information in which the operations are applied like figural information including the auditory and visual information, symbolic information, semantic information, and behavioral information.

3. Product Dimension – includes results of applying the particular operations to the specific contents that include products like unit, class, relation, system, transformation, and implication.
