Other people around caught Anant and he was not able to shoot himself or get the poison. Anant kanhere, then 18 years old, was prosecuted in Bombay court and hanged in the Thane prison on 19 April 1910, a mere four months after Jackson was killed.

Mr. Jackson was quite knowledgeable person and he has special sympathy for Indian culture.
However, it was felt by the revolutionists that he (Jackson) was trying to Pollute Indian mind and was trying to convince them for respecting British rule in a passive way.
The other reason was to challenge the British rule.
