An athlete runs before jumping to gain momentum. Because it helps in jumping higher and longer because of inertia of motion gained due to the motion. When the athletes Jump they already have a forward motion that would be greater than that of a jump made from standing in one spot.

Hola dear!
Please type spaces in your question as it makes your question easier to understand.
Anyways,
Athletes always run some distance before taking a jump(whatever may it be) in order to put their whole body in motion which in turn would make the body move forward while in air after jumping. This happens due to inertia of motion in an object due to which the body tends to be in motion unless acted upon by any unbalance external force. By running the athelete puts his body in motion hence using the property of intertia of motion and the body moves forward while they jump from ground and in air.
Hope it helped!
