Given that angle B = 40 degrees

angle A = angle B = 40 degrees ( base angles of isosceles triangle )

angle A + angle B + angle C = 180 degrees ( angles sum property of a triangle )

40 degrees + 40 degrees + angle C = 180 degrees

angle C = 180 degrees - ( 40 degrees + 40 degrees )

angle C = 180 degrees - 80 degrees

angle C = 100 degrees
