In ∆ ADB and ∆ADC

AB=AC ....(1) ( given , sides of isosceles ∆ )

L A bisects L BAC into L BAD and L DAC

L BAD=L DAC ......(2)

and in ∆ ABD and ∆ACD

AD =AD ......(3)common side

therefore by the rule of SAS congruence

∆ADB is similar to ∆ ADC
