The First Anglo–Mysore War (1766–1769) was a conflict in India between the Sultanate of Mysore and the East India Company. The war was instigated in part by the machinations of Asaf Jah II, the Nizam of Hyderabad, who sought to divert the company's resources from attempts to gain control of the Northern Circars.
Hope it helps....

Hey dear
The series of wars were a geopolitical proxy situation with independent factions of India on one side and British East India supported factions on the other side. Great Britain intended to suborn all of India to its will and it viewed each clash through this goal.
It took a while but eventually the BEIC gained what it had sought.
Thanks
