Sol:

Let the total no of arrows Arjun carried x .

Given that he used half of the arrows, he cut down the arrows thrown by Bheeshm = x / 2.

With 6 other arrows, he killed the rath driver of Bheeshm with one arrow each, he knocked down respectively the rath, flag and the bow of Bheeshm.

Finally, with one more than four times the square root of arrows, He laid Bheeshm unconcious on an arroe bed i.e 4√x +1

From all the above we get

x/2 + 6 + 3 + 4√x + 1 = x

⇒ x + 20 + 8√x = 2x

⇒ x - 8√x - 20 = 0

⇒ √x(√x-10) + 2(√x-10) = 0

⇒(√x + 2)(√x - 10) = 0.

√x = -2 or √x = 10 ( don't take negative value)

⇒√x = 10 ∴x = 100
