Anil sells one transistor for rupees 880 at gain of 10% and another for rupees 960 at a loss of 4%. Find the overall gain or loss %.

Step-by-step explanation:

CP of first transistor = [(100/100+gain%)×SP]


→ = [100/(100+10)×880]


→ = (100/110×880)


→ = ₹ 800


CP of second transistor= [(100/100-loss%)×SP]


→ = [(100/100-4)×960]


→ = [(100/96)×960]


→ = ₹1000


Total CP = ₹ 800 + ₹ 1000 = ₹ 1800


Total SP = ₹ 880 + ₹ 960 = ₹ 1840


Gain = ₹ 1840 - ₹ 1800 = ₹ 40


Gain % = [(gain × 100)/CP]%


= (40×100/1800)%


= 2.22%
