It knows no barrier of any language, gender and nationality etc. Even love makes an animal have and respond gently and even humanely. It is obvious that which we share special Bond with our pets and they become part of our family.
I would never have sent Bruno to the zoo on the silly advice of relatives and friends. if the question of safety and Bruno's comfort would have came, I would took a similar step as the author did. I would have construct a separate house in a corner of my room or terrace.
