Chlorophyll is essential for the process of photosynthesis. Plastids contains chloroplasts which contains chlorophylls, so, if their are no plastids, the plant cannot perform photosynthesis, and can't make their own food. as the herbivorous animals eat plants , they can't get their food. Therefore all the life is depended upon photosynthesise are also depended upon ' plastids' too.
