Given :- Anita needs to construct ten cones for a class project. How many square feet of material will she need if the diameter is 6ft and the height is 12ft ? Use 3.14 for π. Enter your answer in the box. .

Solution :-

given that,

→ Diameter = 6 ft.

so,

→ Radius = Diameter/2 = 6 / 2 = 3 ft.

then,

→ slant height of cone = √(radius² + height²) = √(3² + 12²) = √(9 + 144) = √(153) ≈ 12.4 ft .

then,

→ Material used for 10 cones = 10 * CSA of 1 cone

→ Material used = 10 * (π * radius * slant height.)

→ Material used = 10 * 3.14 * 3 * 12.4

→ Material used = 3.14 * 3 * 124

→ Material used = 1168.08 ft² (Ans.)
