Given : anna bought soil that contains 12% of water .

she wants to plant a flower that needs 18% of water .

To Find : how much water does she need to pour in 2 kg of soil to plant the flower

Solution:

anna bought soil that contains 12% of water

2 kg of soil

=> Water = (12/100)2  = 0.24 kg

Let say Water poured   =  W kg or litre

Total Water = 0.24 + W  kg

Total Soil = 2 + W kg

18% of water

=> (18/100)(2 + W)  = 0.24 + W

=> 36 + 18W  =  24 + 100W

=> 12 = 82W

=> W = 12/82

=> W = 0.146 kg or 0.146 litre

or 1.46 dl

1.46 dl water to be added
