Anodizing
Explanation:
- Anodizing is a type of finishing electrochemical process done to enhance the qualities of metals and alloys.
- Anodizing is done by immersing a metal or alloy in a tank containing an electrolytic solution of aluminium to form a protective coating of hydrated aluminium oxide over it.
- This is a toxic-free environment-friendly process .
Uses:
Anodizing process renders the metal or alloy to be:
- Hard and durable
- Corrosion-resistant
- Abrasion-resistant
- Will not peel or wear
- Decorative finish and restores natural shine, lustre, colour, texture and look of the metal
- Anodized metal structures are used in construction to provide durable escalators, lifts, lobbies, roofs, exteriors; and most widely used in satellites, space and communication devices, computer hardware and a number of consumer products.
