the above reaction is single replacement reaction bcoz only a single species is displaced.
zinc metal in the solid state reacts with hydrochloric acid in aqueous state to form a salt i.e zncl2 in aqueous phase along with the liberation of hydrogen gas. the gas escapes as is indicated by the upward arrow.
