The activity goes like this

connect two ends of a circular coil to a galvanometer.

now take a strong bar magnet and start moving it towards the coil.

the galvanometer will show some deflection. This indicates the presence  of an induced current.

now withdraw the bar magnet . The galvanometer will show deflection in the opposite direction.

also if you keep the magnet stationary then there will be no deflection.

ii. (a) the galvanometer needle will deflect momentarily to one side due to change in the magnetic flux which produces an induced current.

(b) the galvanometer will deflect in the opposite direction as the field lines decreases momentarily creating an induced current.

sry i forgot

the rule is fleming's right hand rule.

Hope it helps.
