1 -  \frac{1}{1 -  \frac{1}{1 -  \frac{1}{3} } }

= 1 -  \frac{1}{ 1 -  \frac{1}{ \frac{2}{3} } }

= 1 -  \frac{1}{1 -  \frac{3}{2} }

= 1 -  \frac{1}{ \frac{ - 1}{2} }

= 1 - ( - 2)

= 3
