plants show two types of movements, one is that which takes place in a particular direction and another is that which doesn't depend upon direction, for example, chui - mui plant, when someone touches it , it shrinks which doesn't necessarily have only a particular direction.
the former one is called tropism and the latter is called nastism which is direction independent. Example for tropism is .... when light falls on a plant only from a single side then the whole plant body bend towards light. This phenomenon is directional i.e. tropism.
