1.
Energy flow in food chain is unidirectional as only the consumer get energy from the existing one.
Farmers spary pesticides on the crops
the crops were eaten by the cow
The grass which contains pesticides converted into milk
and finally the milk is taken by us.
So, the pesticides are get in fuo your body.

2.
Decomposers decompose the waste to get food or energy.
It gives nutritions to the soil.
If the waste is not decomposed then, a lot waste is stay as garbage which can create problems.

3.
Most of this air pollution we cause results from the burning of fossil fuels, such as coal, oil, natural gas, and gasoline to produce electricity and power our vehicles. Carbon dioxide (CO2) is a good indicator of how much fossil fuel is burned and how much of other pollutants are emitted as a result.
Thus global warming increases.

Hello friends!!

Nice question..

QUESTION - 1

"Energy flow in a food chain is unidirectional". Justify this statement. Explain how the pesticides enter the food chain and subsequently get into our body.

ANSWER - 1

Energy ecosystem confirms with thermodynamics laws as energy can neither be made or destroyed and while energy is lost when transferred in the form of heat.
Producers or the green plants convert Solar energy into chemical energy which is transferred to herbivores. This chemical energy is transferred into heat and organic compounds. The heat produced is lost to the environment which cannot be taken back. This happens in successive trophic levels. The solar energy cannot be returned. So energy flows in One direction only.

A large number of pesticides and Chemicals are used to protect our crops from pests and diseases. These pesticides are absorbed by the plants from the soil. Some of these Chemicals get wasted into water bodies where they enter into the aquatic plants and animals. Since these Chemicals are non-biodegradable they get accumulated in the plant and animal body as it gets increased in each tropic levels. Since man is at the top of the food chain he accumulates the maximum.

QUESTION - 2

Describe decomposers facilitate recycling of matter in order to maintain balance in the ecosystem.

ANSWER - 2

When a plant or animal dies, it leaves behind nutrients and energy in the organic material that comprised its body. Decomposers complete decomposition by breaking down the organic matter. Decomposers eventually convert all organic matter into carbon dioxide ( which they respire ) and nutrients. This releases raw nutrients ( such as nitrogen Phosphorus and magnesium ) in a form usable to plants, which incorporate the Chemicals into their own cells.

By breaking down dead material, they provide the nutrients that other organisms need to survive. As decomposers feed on dead organisms, they leave behind nutrients. These nutrients become part of the soil. Therefore, more plants can grow and thrive.

QUESTION - 3

"Burning of fossil fuels results in global warming. "Give reasons to justify the statement.

ANSWER - 3

The drastic increase in the emission of CO2 ( carbon dioxide ) within the last 30 years caused by burning fossil fuels has been identified as the major reason for the change of temperature in the atmosphere.

Fossil fuels such as gasoline, Methane and propane contain mostly carbon. When these fuels are burned , they react with oxygen and produce carbon dioxide. Because of our heavy use of fossil fuels, the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere has been increasing since the industrial revolution. The carbon dioxide absorbs heat and covers the earth surface as a blanket, which increases the temperature of the earth.

Hope it helps you
