the Major steps taken by British are as follow :

brandished realise that the proper system had to be introduced to manage the forest and people have to trained in the science of conversation . rules about the use of forest source has to be farmed feelings of trees and gazing had to be rusticated so that forest could be prevented for Timber production.

anybody who cut trees without following the system had to be punished .so British setup the Indian Forest Service in 1864 and help formulate the Indian forest act of 1865 the immersion lForest Research Institute was set up as Dehradun in 1906. the system data train was called Scientific Forestry many people now including ecologist feel that this system is not scientific at all .
