1: Combustion is a chemical process in which a substance reacts with oxygen to give off heat.

example: matchstick, paper etc

2: The three conditions required for combustion to take place:

★ Combustible substance

★ Oxygen gas

★ Ignition Temperature

3: It is due to lack of inflammation

4: The amount of heat given off on combustion of 1 kg of a fuel is called uts calorific value.

5: Two characteristics of ideal fuel:

★ A fuel must have high calorific value

★ A fuel should be easily available and cheap.

6: Water is not used in controlling electrical fires because these substances being lighter than water will float and spread and cause greater damage.
