Hey there,

If the perimeter of square=40 cm
One side=40/4 cm=10 cm
So the area=10cm*10cm=100cm²
Since their is difference of 9cm² between square and rectangle so the area of rectangle is either 100+9=109cm² or 100-9=91cm²
Since 13cm*7cm=91 cm²
and perimeter if sides are 7cm and 13 cm=40cm  so it satisfy both conditions.
Hence required sides are 7cm and 13 cm.

perimeter of square = 4×side

40=4×side

side=10

perimeter of rectangle=2(sum of sides)

40=2(sum of sides)

sum of sides=20

area of square=100

area of rectangle=product of sides

100-product of sides=9

product of sides=91

so the possible dimensions of rectangle are13&7
