It is given that 2x/5  exceeds  x/7  by  36

⇒ 2x/5  =  (x/7)+36

⇒ 2x/5  -  x/7  = 36

⇒ (14x - 5x)/35 = 36

⇒ 9x/35 = 36

⇒ 9x = 36×35

⇒ 9x = 1260

⇒ x = 1260/9

∴ x =140

∴The no. = 140
