Answer:

(a) 39.75 cm^2

(b) 5/9

Step-by-step explanation:

(a) To find the area of a rectangle, multiply its height by its width.

(b) To find out which fraction is greater, multiply the numerator if first fraction to the denominator of the second fraction, then multiply the numerator of second fraction to the denominator of first fraction (cross-multiplication)

2 x 9 = 18

5 x 7 = 35

Hence, 5/9 is greater than 2/7

hope it helpss :))

Answer:

(a) Area of rectangle = 39.75cm²

(b) 2/7 < 5/9

Step-by-step explanation:

(a)  length of rectangle = 7.5cm

     breadth of rectangle = 5.3cm

Area of rectangle = length × breadth

So,

Area = 7.5 × 5.3 = 39.75cm²

(b) To find the greater fraction, we have to make the denominators same:

Fractions given in the question are:  \frac{2}{7} and \frac{5}{9}

To make the denominators same, we will find the L.C.M of 7 and 9

L.C.M of 7 and 9 = 63

So, the fractions we get are:  \frac{(2*9)+(5*7)}{63}

= 18/63 and 35/63

We know that the fraction with greater numerator is bigger...So,

18/63 < 35/63

∴ 2/7 < 5/9
