Hard work includes just getting through with a task without really determining, how you are going to complete it and do a good job, in advance. Basically hard work just means putting in more hours without strategizing any way to complete the work in advance so this takes up more time and energy. The person gets so tired that it might affect the quality of work
Smart work may involve coming up with a strategic approach to the work and identifying things that you need to do before hand. This involves approaching the project priority wise and ensuring that the work is done with a thought out execution plan. This saves time and energy so that quality of work is retained.
