COMBINATION REACTION AND DECOMPOSITION REACTION

1) Reaction

Two or more reactant compounds are involved in combination reactions. A single compound is involved in a decomposition reaction.

2)Products

Combination reaction results in a single product. Decomposition reactions result in several products.

DISPLACEMENT REACTION AND DOUBLE DISPLACEMENT REACTION

Displacement reaction : The reaction in which an element displaces another element from a substance is called “displacement reaction.” It is represented as

AB+C ---> AC+B

In displacement reaction one element displaces another element from its compound and takes its place.

Double displacement : Here the exchange of ions take place.It is represented as

AB+CD ---> AC+BD

OXIDATION AND REDUCTION REACTION

1) OXIDATION REACTION refers to the addition of oxygen or removal of hydrogen.

2) REDUCTION REACTION refers to the addition of hydrogen or removal of oxygen.

BALANCE AND UNBALANCED EQUATION

1)the number of atoms of elements on the side of reactants and products are equal then the equation is known as balanced equation.

2)if the number of atoms of elements on the sides of reactants and products are not equal then such a equation is called as a skeletal equation or unbalanced equation these equations need to be balanced to satisfy the law of conservation of mass.

CORROSION OF IRON AND COPPER

In the case of rusting of iron, it turns brown and forms iron oxide.

While in the case of corrosion of ,copper it turns green to form basic copper oxide.
