When a Mattel is heated , it expands because the particles in it get heat energy and their vibrations increases.

When their temperature is decreased , they return to their original state for little expands.


The wires of electric poles expands in length in summer because of high temperature and looses.

when winter comes , the wires become tight because the temperature decreases in winter.


So the heated iron rod can be reversed to its original state.
