hi
it anamika here
ok so
let pramila's present age=x
and saksi's present age=y
so lets find their ages after 6 years
pramila=x+6
sakshi=y+6
its given that after six years pramila's age will exceed her daughter's age by 9
therefore x+6+y+6+9
x+6=y+15
x-y=9
x=9+y (eq 1)
now lets find their ages before 1 year
pramila=x-1
sakshi=y-1
it is given that one year ago pramila was 4 times as as old as sakshi
therefore x-1=4(y-1)
x-1=4y-4
x-4y=-3 (eq 2)
substituting eq ! in eq2
9+y-4y+=-3
9-3y=-3
-3y=-12
y=4
sakshi =4 years
x=9+y=9+4=13
pramila = 13 years
the ratio =13/4=13:4
the answers are correct
but there is no logic that the mother and daughter is 4
she will have to give birth at 9 to have a daughter who is 4 years when she is 13
how can a girl do it at 9?
