Answer:

(c) 8 cubes

Step-by-step explanation:

Total number of cubes = 4 x 4 x 4 = 64 cubes

Take away the top and bottom layers (Red):

Area = Length x breadth

1 layer = 4 x 4 = 16 cubes

2 layers = 16 x 2 = 32 cubes

Take away the two sides layers (Black)

Area = Length x Breadth

1 layer = 4 x 2  = 8 cubes

2 layers = 8 x 2 = 16 cubes

Tale away the front and back layers (Blue)

Area = Length x Breadth

1 layer = 2 x 2 = 4 cubes

2 layers = 4 x 2 = 8 cubes

Find the remaining cubes:

Remaining cubes = 64 - 32 - 16 - 8 = 8 cubes

Answer: (C) 8 cubes

IITGenius: i understood it by a different method
IITGenius: plz check wheter it is correct or not
IITGenius: each outer cube is painted....it is having either 1 painted face or 3
IITGenius: so in the middle(inside) portion of the big solid cube,there are some cubes,which are unpainted
IITGenius: so in the middle of each square face of the big solid cube,there are 4 small sqaure faces,which only have a one painted side,and others have a 3 painted side.So we will exclude all of them
IITGenius: and then in the middle there are 4 unpainted face and below them more 4 unpainted face,making a total of 8 unpainted faces
TooFree: The theory is to remove the first layer around it. There are many ways to remove that layer. But in the end, it should leave us with 8 cubes.
TooFree: For me, I removed the top and bottom layer first, leaving us with the 4 sides still painted. Then I remove the right and left, and then front and back. That leaves us with the 8 cubes in the middle.
IITGenius: is it compulsory that only 8 cubes must be left?
IITGenius: Which chapter is this of logical reasoning?

Total no. of cubes=4³=64

Now,after removing the red layers (top and bottom):-Area=l×b

1st layer=4×4=16 cubes
2nd layer=2×16=32 cubes

Now ,keep doing the same for the rest colours and then:-

64-32-16-8=8

so option (c) is correct.

IITGenius: Here you have calculated the cubes visible in the figure only right?
