Question:-

  • Write the characteristics features of stratosphere and thermosphere.

Answer:-

\sf\purple{Characteristics \ features \ of \ stratosphere:-}

  • The boundary between the Troposphere and stratosphere is known as tropopause.

  • The estimated height of the stratosphere is 50km above the surface of the earth.

  • No clouds are seen in the stratosphere. Dust particles and water vapour are also negligible.

  • The stratosphere contains ozone which absorbs the harmful ultraviolet radiation of the sun.

  • The uppermost layer of the stratosphere is called as stratopause .

\sf\purple{Characteristics \ features \ of \ thermosphere:-}

  • The thermosphere lies above the mesosphere. It extends up to a height of 400km above the sea level.

  • In this layer, the temperature begins to increase rapidly with increase in altitude. It reaches more than 1,500°C.

Question:-

  • What are the four domains of the earth?

Answer:-

  • There are four domains of the earth :-

  1. Lithosphere
  2. Hydrosphere
  3. Atmosphere
  4. Biosphere

\sf\purple{Lithosphere:-}

  • It consists of rocks and minerals which are useful to us.

  • It provides land for building houses, roads, factories and soil for Agriculture.

\sf\purple{Hydrosphere:-}

  • It supports all forms of life on earth.

  • It provides us with food and minerals.

\sf\purple{Atmosphere:-}

  • Nitrogen is essential to maintain the fertility of soil.

  • Oxygen is necessary for the survival of human beings.

\sf\purple{Biosphere:-}

  • The narrow zone where the lithosphere, hydrosphere and atmosphere meet and interact is called as biosphere.

Question:-

  • Explain the layers of the Earth with the help of a diagram.

Answer:-

  • There are three layers of the earth :-

  1. Crust
  2. Mantle
  3. Core

\sf\orange{Crust:-}

  • The crust is the topmost layer of the earth.

  • It is also called as lithosphere.

  • It is the thinnest layer of the earth. The upper part of the crust is called as continental Crust [average thickness 35km] and the lower is called as oceanic crust [ average thickness 5km]

\sf\orange{Mantle:-}

  • The mantle is the middle layer of the earth.

  • It is also called as mesosphere.

  • It lies just below the crust, it is 2,900km thick.

\sf\orange{Core:-}

  • The core is innermost layer and lies at the center of the earth.

  • It is also called as barysphere.

  • The average thickness of the core is about 3,500 km.

Diagram:-

  • Check the second attachment for the diagram of " layers of the earth".
