Now to find out d we have to the HCF of (48,72)

By breaking numbers into prime factors

>> 48 =  2^4 × 3

>> 72 =  2^3 × 3^2

Now as HCF = common factor of both

Then the term common in both

>>  2^3 × 3

or

>> 8 × 3

>> 24

Hence HCF of (48,72) = 24 = d

or

d = 24
