Step-by-step explanation:

let Mr Sen's age be x

Mrs Sen's age = x- 5

here, (x) + (x-5) = 115

= x + x-5 = 115

= 2x-5 = 115

= 2x = 115+5

= 2x = 120

= x = 120/2

= 60

x-5=60-5=55

Mr Sen's age = 60 yrs

Mrs Sen's age= 55yrs

Let the age of Mr. Sen be x and the age of Mrs. Sen be y.

______________________

Now, the equation for the statement, "Mrs.Sen is 5 years younger than Mr. Sen" will be :-

===>x-5=y

===>x-y=5 ———— eq. 1

______________________

And the equation for the statement,"The sum of their ages is 115 will be:-

===>x+y=115———— eq.2

______________________

Adding eq. 1 and eq. 2 we get:-

===>x-y+x+y=5+115

[ y cancels with -y and x+x gives 2x]

===>2x=120

===>x=60

______________________

Putting the value of x in eq. 1 we get:-

===>x-y=5

===>60-y=5

===>y=60-5

===>y=55

***HENCE THE AGE OF MR. SEN IS 60 YEARS AND THE AGE OF MRS. SEN IS 55 YEARS
