Baudhayana (around 800 BCE) was the famous ancient Indian mathematician who wrote the first maths book in India. He wrote a maths book named 'Sulba Sutra'.

Baudhayana :-
Baudhayana discovered the Pythagoras Theorem way before Pythagoras was even born. In his book 'Sulba Sutra', he wrote, " A rope is stretched along the length of the diagonals produces an area which the vertical and horizontal sides make together". This is nothing, but a different way of looking at Pythagoras Theorem. Apart from this, the book contained geometric solutions of linear equations, calculation of value of pi, calculation of square root of 2 and circling the square. Baudhayana was a Vedic Priest and a very skilled craftsman. He was skilled in the practical use of mathematics.

Baudhayana, a famous Indian Vedic scholar in around 800 BCE is credited to be the writer of first mathematics books named "Sulba Sutra''. He also discovered the Pythagoras Theorem and mentioned it in his book even before Pythogoras explained to the world later .

Thus, Indians have always pioneered in many inventions and discoveries. Even ZERO was first discovered in India.

Hope it helps!!!
