Encystation and sporulation are methods which the organisms adopt during unfavourable conditions. The unfavourable conditions include lack of nutrients,starvation,adverse temperatures,etc.they are dormant conditions where the vegetative cells survive in the form of spores and cysts.when the conditions get favourable the vegetative cells are formed.the organisms which form spores and cysts are generally resistant to high temperatures and some chemicals.
