1 part) When dry apricot are left in water they will swell. because the water will enter to them through the process of osmosis. Later ,when these apricot will be transferred to sugar solution ,they will shrink.

The question is what happens when dry apricots are left in water for some time and later they are transferred to sugar or salt solution

The apricot fruit will be plumper, juicier, and softer. The vitamins A & C and minerals present on the outer skin of the apricot gets dissolved in the water. water molecules will move from outside to inside of the apricot through wall of apricot takes place. Due to this, apricots will swell eventually.
