TO FIND:-

Fraction of the rectangle which is shaded.

SOLUTION:-

LET ASSUME THE AREA OF ONE SQURE BOX INSIDE THE RECTANGLE BE

 {1x}^{2}

where X is any measurable quantity like cm,m,or any other.

then side be 1x.

Let count the number of box horizontaly and Vertically,

We find that,

Vertical box=3

Horizontal box=6.

Hence,

Area of Rectangle= 3×6

=>

18 {x}^{2}

Now Again,

Count the number of boxes horizontally and Vertically covered by Shaded portion.

We find,

Horizontal boxes=4

Vertical boxes=3

Area of Shaded portion =1/2 base ×height

=>. 1/2 ×4×3

6 {x}^{2}

____________________

At last Fraction of Shaded portion to Rectangle,

 \dfrac{shaded \: portion \: area}{rectangle \: area}

 \dfrac{ 6 {x}^{2} }{18 {x}^{2} }

 \dfrac{1}{3}
