1. Both r under colonial rule. India (Bastar) was under British colonial rule and Indonesia (Java) was under Dutch rule.
2.Shifting cultivation was banned in both countries.
3.Forest law was enacted in both the countries.
4.Forests were cultivated for timber.
5.In both countries forest people revolted and both were suppressed.
6.In both the countries, scientific forestry was introduced.

Both in Bastar and Java, the traditional right of the tribes who live in the forest were taken away and they were forced by their colonial government to work for them. There was a large scale of deforestation that look place in both the regions and scientific forestry was implemented. Both the colonial government faced rebellion due to there acts.
