Solution:

Let the number of pencils be x and number of clippers be y

=> 21 x + 9 y = 819   => Equation 1

=> 7 x + 3 y = ?  => Equation 2

If we see Equation 1 carefully,  we notice that, All the terms in the left hand side are three times the terms on the right hand side.

=> Equation 2 × 3 = Equation 1

=> Equation 2 = Equation 1 / 3

Therefore Dividing the RHS of Equation 1 by 3 we get the RHS of equation 2.

Hence on solving we get,

=> Equation 2 RHS = 819 / 3 = 273

Hence 7 pencils and 3 clippers must Rs. 273.
