Solution:

Since, y = f(g(x))

y = √g(x)

y = √(7x+b) .........(1)

Given that the function y passes through (4,6)

Hence, y = 6 and x = 4 must satisfy equation (1).

=> 6 = √[7(4)+b]

squaring both sides,

=> 36 = 28 + b

=> b = 8
