Q) The above graph was plotted by a student when 1 liter of water was heated from 0°C to 120°C . Observe the graph and answer the following :-

1. What is indicated by horizontal line in the graph ?

Ans :- Energy in calories is indicated by the horizontal line.

2. Which states of matter can be perceived during this experiment ?

Ans :- The three states of matter can be perceived in the experiment,

As we know that freezing point of ice is 0°C we can see the solid state of matter.

As the water keeps heating to 100°C we can see that the ice melts and water is formed in the liquid state.

Finally when water reaches 120°C we will be able to see water in the from of gas.
